Highlights of Service Outcomes 2008-2009*

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is pleased to report that the majority of Human Service programs met or exceeded their contractual goals this year. Overall, 278 clients were placed into unsubsidized employment from July 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009.
Allegheny County Jail Project
- Exceeded enrollment goal
- Missed placement goal by 1% (achieved 66% vs. goal of 67%)
- Missed retention goal by 16% (achieved 45% vs. goal of 61%)
Community Reintegration Project
- Met enrollment goal
- Exceeded class attendance goal
- Exceeded program completion goals (in jail)
Economic Stability for Fathers (program runs October to September)
- Enrollments 87 out of 100 (as of July 1)
- Placements 63% as of July 1 (70% goal)
- Retention 73% as of July 1 (60% goal)
- Wage increase 50% as of July 1 (60% goal)
Duquesne Light
- Exceeded goal to enroll 28,000 persons in CAP

- Increased vendor participation in Imagine Week by 20% over last year
VITA
In its first year of operation, Goodwill's VITA program, a member of the local Money in Your Pocket Coalition, returned over $19,000 to low/moderate income families in the area through the free income tax preparation service.
Third-Party Recognition of Services:
The United States Department of Labor highlighted Goodwill SWPA’s Summer Youth Project at Hillman Cancer Center in its “Summer Youth Employment Snapshots” publication of August 3, 2009. The article can be accessed at http://www.doleta.gov/pdf/Sixth_Edition_080309_Final.pdf.
The Hospital and Healthcare Association of PA (HAP) honored UPMC South Side in September as a 2009 HAP Achievement Award winner for Project SEARCH. This award is given to recognize innovation in health care organizations. The project was recognized as an innovative collaboration with Goodwill SWPA that will increase diversity in the hospital’s workforce.
The Labor Management Clearinghouse model and first-year outcomes were recently featured in the December 2009 report from the National Fund for Workforce Solutions, “Implementing the National Fund for Workforce Solutions: The Baseline Evaluation Report”. Customer Satisfaction:
Goodwill SWPA assesses both participant and funder-customer satisfaction regularly in the Human Service Department. On the participant side, the overall results from July 1, 2008 through April 30, 2009 are as follows:
- 86% - Satisfied or Very Satisfied with Performance of Staff
- 89% - Satisfied or Very Satisfied that Facility Meets Their Needs
- 80% - Satisfied or Very Satisfied that the Services Received Matched Their Expectations
- 77% - Would Recommend Goodwill Services to Others
The Funder surveys for 08-09 are still being analyzed, but the survey for Transition WORKS! (youth) has been tallied with the following results. The respondents were Goodwill’s referring school districts:
- 99% - Satisfied or Very Satisfied with Services Provided
- 100% - Satisfied or Very Satisfied that Positive Outcome were Achieved
- 95% - Satisfied or Very Satisfied that the Program was Delivered as Described
