Nick

< Previous   Next >

"I enjoy working at the zoo and seeing the animals every day."

Nick worked through a variety of housekeeping training areas, and now works October through May at the Pittsburgh Zoo.

Nick has now worked with the Pittsburgh Zoo for the past four years. Prior to becoming a seasonal employee of the zoo, Nick worked his way through a variety of housekeeping training areas, meeting the competencies for each area.  As Nick continued to build on his skills, he was selected to work on the Mobile Work Crew.  During the months of October through May, Nick returns from the Pittsburgh Zoo to the mobile crew where he works until the Zoo begins their next season.  Although supported by an on site job coach, Nick has become proficient in his work related skills and has met all expectations of the employer with complete satisfaction.

"If it wasn't for the HEART House program, I would not have been aware of all the services I have been able to access. I am grateful for the opportunity to raise my children in a clean and safe environment and be able to obtain my degree in accounting!! "

Asia is a success story for Goodwill's HEART House program.
