Tax Preparation Volunteers Needed!

Goodwill needs volunteers for the VITA program which helps low-income and elderly residents of the McKeesport area with income tax preparation.

• Free tax assistance is provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays from January through April 15 at Goodwill’s Career Development Center at 345 Fifth Avenue in McKeesport.
• Volunteers must be available for a minimum of one, four-hour shift per week, either from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. or from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Required skills are the ability to learn basic tax laws, the ability to input data accurately on a computer, interview skills, and people skills.
• Training classes in tax law and the use of a tax-preparation computer program will be held in December and additional on-line training is also available.
