Your Donations Fuel Our Programs and Services

When you donate a car to Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania, you give your neighbors an opportunity to purchase transportation inexpensively. Thanks to your donations, we are also able to fuel our many programs and services that help people with barriers to employment. About the Goodwill Auto Auction

Auctions are held the second Tuesday of every month, with a preview at 9:30 a.m. and the auction starting at 11:00 a.m. Goodwill does not farm out donations to other auction houses, we sell our vehicles on site. So when you donate your car to Goodwill, the proceeds stay here. 

A - Cars start at $250.00 bid, and B - Cars start at $100.00 bid.

Can I Preview Cars Before the Auction Begins?

Yes, you can preview cars before the auction begins. The auction gates open at 9:30 a.m. for preview, and the auction begins at 11:00 a.m. Bidders are cautioned not to purchase vehicles that have not been inspected to their satisfaction!

What is a Bid Card?

You will need a bid card to participate in the auction. A bid card can be obtained for $100 cash deposit and with a valid photo ID. Please Note: Only valid photo ID from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland will be accepted. All Penn Dot paperwork will be processed in the name of the person registered to bid.

Purchasing a Car

The vehicle must be removed from Goodwill premises by 3:30 PM on auction day. 

All purchases can be made with cash, check or credit card. If you purchase a vehicle, your $100 deposit can go toward the purchase price or you can get it back to pay for notary fees. If you do not purchase a vehicle, your $100 deposit is refunded at the conclusion of the auction. 

All notary work must be completed the same day and all notary fees are cash only. Notary fees include: tax, title transfer, new plate or transfer of a plate and an admin fee to complete the transaction.

Important PennDOT Information 

  • As of January 8, 2012, the Goodwill Auto Auction no longer issues In-Transit Tags.
  • PennDOT has increased Motor Vehicle fees, please see below:
    • Effective April 1, 2014 - Title fee $22.50 was increased to $50.00 
    • Effective July 1, 2014 - Transfer plate fee $6.00 was increased to $9.00
