Employer Services

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania offers an array of workforce solutions for employers, including qualified, well-trained, motivated people to staff their organizations, job training programs to assist in employee education, and a variety of consulting services and money-saving options. Goodwill’s Employer Services Department is a versatile, valuable resource that helps employers recruit and retain the talent they need to fill entry- and mid- level positions.

Employer Solutions Available from Goodwill

For employers, finding the best people to fit their workplace culture and contribute to their organizational success is both a challenge and an opportunity. Goodwill can help by connecting employers with qualified candidates, but unlike for-profit agencies, our services are mission-based. Our goal is to match our training and support programs to the real-world needs of employers.

Several factors make Goodwill’s Employer Services unique. For example, employers who use Goodwill can:

  • Hire quickly from a large pool of pre-screened, qualified candidates;
  • Meet multiple employment needs with just one call; AND
  • Work consistently with a Goodwill Employer Services specialist who knows their company’s culture and environment.

Screened, Skilled, Reliable Employees

By hiring Goodwill graduates and participants, employers get job candidates hand-picked to meet their specific requirements who already have training experience. We offer transferable skills ranging from good communication to time management and workplace ethics, as well as job-specific skills in medical office administration, word processing, customer service, food service, and housekeeping. Goodwill also offers several unique employment options that can provide free or subsidized employment under a number of different funding programs. These include paid work experience for non-profit or governmental agencies, unpaid internships for area youth, and paid or unpaid externships for students of Goodwill training programs.

Consultation on Hiring Workers with Disabilities

Goodwill can help employers understand how simple workplace accommodations and assistive technology devices can promote career success for employees with disabilities. AT includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices and the process used in selecting, locating, and using them.

There are many types of things that may help people with disabilities work successfully. Examples of accommodations include:

  • Permitting an employee to work part-time
  • Modifying work schedule
  • Job restructuring
  • Job reassignment
  • Acquiring or modifying equipment

Goodwill’s assistive technology services provide employers assistance to answer questions and recommend solutions to enhance accessibility in the workplace, determine appropriate accommodations, and help maintain productivity among employees with disabilities. In addition to consultation services, Assistive Technology services offered to employers include:

  • Conducting assessments and recommending appropriate assistive technology and accommodations to assist in job retention.
  • Provide training and support on assistive technology

For more information about Assistive Technology Services, contact Adrienne Tolentino, Assistive Technology Specialist, at 412-390-2445 or Contact Us about Employer Services.
