Does your organization need volunteers?

Goodwill’s Community NOW program is looking to partner with businesses and other organizations that utilize volunteers as the program expands to new neighborhoods. Some of our current volunteer sites include an assisted living facility, Meals-on-Wheels, a library, and more.

What is Community NOW?

Goodwill’s Community NOW program offers adults with disabilities active participation in their communities by providing individually tailored opportunities aimed at increasing independence. A Goodwill program specialist coordinates volunteer sites and facilitates social and educational activities aimed at developing appropriate socialization, self-advocacy, living and work skills.

How do volunteer sites work?

Volunteer sites typically host up to six program participants, all of whom are supervised by a Goodwill program specialist. Volunteers are given set schedules and tasks according to the needs of the organization.

As a volunteer site, what is required from my organization?

• A willingness to accommodate adults with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities at your site.
• Provide volunteer tasks for participants.
• Clear expectations of volunteers.
• Communication with the Community NOW Program Specialist about the volunteer tasks that need to be completed.
• A set schedule for volunteers.

What are the benefits of working with Community NOW?

Community NOW volunteers bring new insight and enthusiasm that help create a positive image of the organization in the community. The volunteers provide extra hands that enable your organization to accomplish more.
