PITTSBURGH, PA, February 18, 2015 - Applications are being accepted through March 31, 2015 for young men interested in enrolling in Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s YouthWorks Employment Initiative. This program is designed to provide work experience in the form of internships to African American males, ages 18 to 24, who were either in foster care or using independent living services after their 16th birthday.
The program works one-on-one with participants to place them in eight-week paid internships based on their individual skills and interests. Cost of travel is covered during the program, and job placement assistance is provided upon completion of the program.
The program is designed to help individuals develop a positive work ethic, gain work experience, and explore different work situations while working approximately 20 hours per week. In the internship, participants work a minimum of 20 hours a week as a learning opportunity to develop good work ethics, be exposed to the work environment, and explore different work situations.
