PITTSBURGH, May 20, 2015 – Goodwill’s GoodGuides ® program is currently seeking partnerships with after school and at-risk youth services providers to identify youth who need mentoring and/or career-readiness training opportunities.

Goodwill’s GoodGuides free program provides youth between the ages of 12-17 with a career mentor. Youth obtain a full range of mentoring services, including career-readiness, participation in job tours and receive life skills training.

“GoodGuides is reaching out to all organizations who work with at-risk youth to connect with us,” said Sophia Duck, Program Manager with Goodwill SWPA.  “The GoodGuides program serves as an excellent resource for area programs to help their participants reach their highest level of success."  

Youth in Goodwill’s GoodGuides program will learn:

  • Interviewing skills, including how to dress for success,
  • Communication skills and customer service skills,
  • How to handle challenges in the workplace, and
  • Financial literacy

Mentors in Goodwill’s GoodGuides program will help youth determine options for life after high school graduation, create a career plan, and set goals for the current academic school year. Youth will also have the opportunity to participate in a service learning project, which helps create leadership skills and community involvement.
