United Way and the Money In Your Pocket Coalition

During tax season, Goodwill offers free guidance and filling services to taxpayers with low incomes. An estimated 20% of eligible low-income families are unaware of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) – leaving an estimated $38 million unclaimed, rather than in the pockets of those who need it most. The Money In Your Pocket Coalition (MIYPC) certifies and trains volunteers to prepare tax returns and ensure that the returns are filed correctly, on time, and include all qualifying credits, such as the EITC and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). Families served by the MIYPC save money by avoiding costly tax filing fees and are assisted to ensure they receive their full refund at tax time.

Volunteers hold appointments at Northside Common Ministries and at the Workforce Development Center in Lawrenceville. To schedule an appointment, call the United Way by dialing 2-1-1.
