Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania announced the winners of its 2020 Power of Work Awards, which honor employers and organizations for their efforts to hire and help individuals with disabilities and other employment barriers. Selected from nearly 80 nominees, the winners are:

 

HIRE Category Winners

Eat’n Park Hospitality Group – Since 1949, Eat'n Park Restaurants has been a family-owned restaurant chain, serving guests across Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. Eat’n Park is an active member of both of Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Business Advisory Councils (BAC) in Pittsburgh and Fayette County. The BAC provides valuable feedback and support to training curriculums and overall programming.

HMHS has partnered with Computer Aid Inc. (CAI) to provide opportunity for meaningful employment to individuals on the Autism Spectrum. CAI’s Autism2Work (A2W) Program provides the training, structure, process, and support to enable autistic individuals to achieve great success--and for corporate partners to realize the benefits of their intelligence and unique skills.

 

HELP Category Winner

The Pittsburgh Marriott City Center – The award-winning Pittsburgh Marriott City Center is a premier hotel located in Downtown Pittsburgh offering redesigned luxury accommodations and friendly service.

The Pittsburgh Marriott City Center strives to make sure that everyone is accepted and has the ability to reach their full potential. The Pittsburgh Marriott City Center provides mock interviews, on the job training and job shadowing for students with disabilities at the high school and college levels. Students are provided the opportunity to gain cleaning and clerical skills in the areas of housekeeping and human resources.

 

The winners of the 2020 Power of Work Awards will be honored at a ceremony and luncheon on March 10, 2020 in the ballroom of the Sheraton Station Square. Participating in the event, along with Goodwill clients and representatives of the winning organizations, will be Susie Shipley, President, Huntington Bank, Western Pennsylvania & Ohio Valley Region and honorary chairperson of the 2020 Power of Work Awards, and Bill Flanagan, Chief Corporate Relations Officer for the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, emcee.

This year’s awards ceremony marks the 23rd year for the recognition program. Goodwill created the Power of Work Awards program in 1997 to acknowledge employers and organizations that make a major, positive impact on the lives of people with barriers to employment by providing employment opportunities and support programs. More than 50 different employers and organizations have won the award.
