PITTSBURGH, March 27, 2015 – Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania recently released its 2014 annual report outlining its services and programs that helped 53,081 local individuals last year. The report also indicates that Goodwill placed 889 individuals in unsubsidized employment – an 11 percent increase from 2013.
Total revenues for 2014 were $50,220,697 compared to $49,409,088 in 2013. Net retail revenue for the year was $29,820,131 or 59 percent of total revenues, compared to $29,484,541 or 60 percent of total revenues for 2013. Expenses for program services and supporting services for 2014 were $51,555,982, resulting in a consolidated change in net assets of $1,335,285, compared to expenses of $48,394,115 and a consolidated change in net assets of $2,511,525 for 2013.
The annual report also indicates that Goodwill SWPA recycled 23,663,046 pounds of donated goods during 2014, which included 189,000 pounds of toner containers; 3,835,460 pounds of aluminum, plastic, glass and newspaper recyclables collected at Goodwill’s Fayette County Recycling Center; 18,127,052 pounds of retail recyclables such as books, shoes, toys, housewares and clothes; and 1,511,534 pounds of e-waste, consisting of 1,400,279 pounds of computers and computer components.
Goodwill SWPA is a diversified human service agency that serves southwestern Pennsylvania and parts of north central West Virginia. It operates 31 retail stores and other nonprofit businesses to fund job training and related services to help clients overcome various barriers to employment.
