In recognition of the annual “Goodwill Week” celebration, Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania will hold its first ever Job and Resource fair specifically targeted to current and former members of the military.  The event will be held on Wednesday, May 9 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at Goodwill’s Workforce Development Center, 118 52nd Street in the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. Veterans Place is a partner with Goodwill SWPA for the Job and Resource Fair.

At the event, job seekers will have the opportunity to meet with employers, attend career development workshops, participate in mock interviews, and connect with community service providers. Employers at the Job and Resource Fair for Veterans will include:

Some employers will be interviewing at the event and attendees are encouraged to wear interview clothing and bring their resumes. Job seekers can also prepare for the Job and Resource Fair by attending the pre-workshop entitled: “How to Get the Most Out of a Career Expo.”  Those attending the workshop, which begins at 11:30am, can learn how to network with employers and talk about skills.  Registration is required for the pre-workshop.

This event for Veterans is part of the annual National Goodwill Industries Week observance when Goodwill agencies across the United States and Canada celebrate the power of work through local events and promotions during the first full week of May.

“This is a great opportunity for our area Vets who are looking for work,” said Andrew Williams, Goodwill SWPA’s Veterans Services Administrator. “We invite individuals to come to Goodwill to talk to prospective employers and learn more about various jobs available in our community.”
