A second area Goodwill Outlet store that sells clothing and other merchandise by the pound will open in Heidelberg on December 8. Located at 1905 Washington Street, the new Outlet Store was converted from the traditional Goodwill store that opened at this location a little under three years ago.
The official opening of the new Goodwill Outlet will be celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. First-day shoppers will be treated to prizes, giveaways and free refreshments.
“Goodwill customers really love the Goodwill Outlet located in the east suburbs of Pittsburgh,” said Andrew Marano, Assistant Vice President of Retail for Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania. “Because of this, we knew converting our Heidelberg location from a typical Goodwill store was the best choice to bring an outlet store to the west suburbs as well.”
The Outlet store differs from a traditional Goodwill store because items are sold by the pound instead of being individually priced. Items range from 49 cents to $1.49 per pound. Additionally, items are placed in large bins and fresh merchandise is rotated onto the sales floor every half hour.
The 14,500-square-foot Heidelberg outlet store has about 9,000 square feet of outlet sales floor space and features a convenient drive-through, canopy-covered donation drop-off center.
“Our Outlet stores are so popular because they really are an amazing treasure hunt shopping experience. Bargain hunters always can always find something special at a really great price,” said Marano.
