Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania is an approved Statewide Pre-Employment Transition Services Provider for the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR) and works in conjunction with school districts and the district OVR Counselor. Eligible students will have an IEP or 504 plan. Goodwill’s Pre-Employment Transition Services staff will work to customize the following group services to meet the needs and schedules of the region’s students:

Group Job Shadowing
On-site experience at integrated community worksites for a group of students to observe work being done, to learn from people currently working in an occupation, and to explore areas of career interest.

Career Exploration
Group instruction that provides students with a variety of opportunities to learn about careers, the skills needed for different jobs, and to discover personal career interests. Modules include:

  • Resume Writing
  • Dress It Up: Interview and Professional Attire
  • How to Interview
  • Mock Interview
  • Online Job Search
  • Digital Etiquette
  • Introduction to Budgeting
  • Introduction to Banking
  • How to Disclose a Disability

Workplace Readiness Training
Students will participate in classroom work preparation and career exploration activities including the JumpStart Success curriculum. The JumpStart Success curriculum is aligned with the PA Academic Standards for Career Education and Work, which ensures that our region’s youth are equipped with the core competencies associated with entry-level positions as well as the tools to navigate their individualized career plans.
