Construction Junction Training Program

Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania’s Construction Junction Training Program provides hands-on training for individuals who have the goal of competitive employment.

Training includes materials handling, deconstruction, stocking, customer service, and merchandising.

Job Skills Training and Job Readiness

Participants gain hands-on work experience and develop a variety of skills while also gaining increased independence, confidence and self-esteem. This is accomplished through job readiness classroom instruction and on-the-job training supported by Goodwill and Construction Junction staff.

While in training, participants are held to the same standard as Construction Junction employees. Participants who successfully complete the training will be given consideration for open positions at Construction Junction.

Who is eligible for the program?

Individuals are eligible to participate by meeting the following requirements:

  • Are 18 years of age or older and post-high school
  • Have a documented diagnosis of an Intellectual Disability or Developmental Disability
  • Ability to perform basic Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADL’s) independently
  • Willing to become involved on a scheduled basis

Final determinations are made after completing an application and interview with Construction Junction management and staff.

Individuals are referred by Supports Coordination Units and are funded by waiver programs available through the Office of Intellectual Disability (OID). This is a small group employment service. (W-7241, 1:3 and W7239, 1:6). Rates are determined by Fee Schedule Rates for services funded through the Consolidated, Community Living, P/FDS, and Adult Autism Waivers as well as Base-Funded programs, residential ineligible services, and the accompanying rate assumption logs. Private pay is also accepted

What is the service availability?

The individual’s start date is determined by training position availability. The program hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Frequency of service is determined by the individual’s need.
