A new Goodwill store in Mt. Pleasant will celebrate its grand opening on Wednesday, June 12. The new store is located on 280 Crossroads Plaza, just minutes from its previous location in Countryside Plaza. Goodwill representatives and community leaders will take part in a 9:00 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony. The first 150 customers in the door get a free gift and there will be also be music, raffles and free refreshments throughout the morning of the opening.
“Mt. Pleasant has long been an excellent Goodwill store location,” said Andrew Marano, Vice President Donated Goods Retail with Goodwill. “This is why we are so pleased to move to this new site in this community.”
The new Mt. Pleasant location follows the new prototype for Goodwill stores opening in the Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania service territory within the last decade. The store space was designed specifically for Goodwill’s unique operations. Production and donation areas are arranged for maximum efficiency and the store is wide open and very green, with energy-efficient HVAC and electrical systems. The whole store is 15,750 square feet, including 8,000 square feet of sales floor. Those donating items to the new store will be able to utilize a drive thru donation drop off point which is more convenient for donors.
Donations to Goodwill are sold in local Goodwill stores to provide funding for Goodwill’s job training and education programs. Donating to Goodwill is also good for the environment and donations to Goodwill help keep nearly 17 million pounds of material out of landfills every year.
Goodwill’s former Mt. Pleasant location at 158 Countryside Plaza will remain open until 5pm on June 11. Shoppers are welcome to take advantage of tremendous values, including significant percentage discounts on donated items that will increase until the day the former store closes. In preparation for the move, beginning May 28th, donations will start being accepted only at the new location.
Goodwill’s partners for the new Mt. Pleasant store include: Martin Perry with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank, who represented Goodwill as broker in their move to this new location and Madison Acquisitions LLC, the owner, developer and landlord of the site.
