About the Power of Work Awards
Each year, Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania (Goodwill SWPA) honors businesses that are opening their doors and improving the lives of people with disabilities and/or other challenges by offering them work or work-related experiences.
Winners are chosen from an independent panel of judges and are subsequently recognized at an inspirational ceremony and luncheon each spring.
The Power of Work Awards competition is open to all businesses in Goodwill SWPA’s service territory, which includes eight counties in southwestern Pennsylvania and nine counties in north-central West Virginia. You can find the full list of counties here - www.goodwillswpa.org/about-goodwill.
About the Power of Work Awards Categories – HIRE and HELP
The Power of Work Awards has two categories – HIRE and HELP.
Nominees in the HIRE category recruit and hire people with employment barriers and ensure that those employees succeed in their employment by offering flexible work schedules, child care assistance, transportation, etc.
Nominees in the HELP category consistently go beyond their mission to offer a learning and supportive environment that is conducive to helping people with disabilities and employment barriers as they seek meaningful employment.
Winners of the 2023 Power of Work Awards will be announced in March 2023 and will be honored at the Power of Work Awards ceremony and luncheon on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Sheraton Station Square, 300 W Station Square Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.
