Pittsburgh, PA, January 28, 2015 – Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania offers many opportunities for people who wish to improve their education. The agency is now enrolling for free adult education classes at locations in downtown Pittsburgh, Arlington, East Liberty, Lawrenceville, McKees Rocks, McKeesport, Northside, and Southside.
“Getting a GED or improving your education can help you can find a new job, make more money, or take that next step towards college training programs,” said Judy Martier, Director of Education, Training and Assessment at Goodwill SWPA. “We also have classes to improve your English for those working toward US citizenship. If you made a New Year’s resolution to expand your education, it’s not too late to register for classes at Goodwill.”
Classes incorporate reading comprehension, mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and analysis -- the core skills needed to pass the GED® test. Students can choose from several convenient class times during the day, Monday through Thursday. Evening classes are available at Goodwill’s Workforce Development Center (WDC) in Lawrenceville, as well as the Southside location.
Goodwill’s ESL/EL Civics classes help non-native English speakers to improve their speaking, listening, reading, writing and citizenship skills. ESL/EL Civics classes are held at the Lawrenceville WDC and Southside.
Goodwill also offers computer based GED testing at the Lawrenceville WDC computer testing center, with varying times, Tuesday through Saturday. All candidates for the GED test can take the complete battery of tests at the Goodwill testing center regardless of whether they have taken the preparation classes through Goodwill. Testing can be scheduled at www.GED.com. More information about Goodwill’s GED programs can be found at www.goodwillswpa.org/education.
